Get in the Halloween Spirit for the Month of October! FREE Activities...

Are you ready to get into the spirit and set the mood for a month of October FREE fun?

Get all activities at once with the Fall Halloween Bundle at TpT for all your October ELA needs:

First, set the mood for the month of October! Dim the lights--opt for flashlights, battery operated tealights, glow in the dark sticks, and battery operated desk lamps to help students get in the holiday spirit. Students love using alternative lighting, so place plenty of these on desks, rugs, and tables.

Create a spooky classroom setting with music. YouTube has plenty of eerie Halloween music, and this one includes a fireplace and pumpkin scene:

For a fun October, get started with some engaging holiday learning activities:

For emerging learners, try using Wacky Wayne's Halloween I-Spy at AUL or TpT:

Get younger readers up and moving while practicing basic sight verbs with: Get Fit Action Stories at AUL or TpT . Get active while reading!

Two favorites of students and teachers is the group writing stories Let's Write a Scary Story and Write A Halloween Story with Word Bank at AUL or TpT. Choose a story with lots of different holiday sounds for spooky imagery. Then, get to writing scary stories:

Finally, use Eerie Writing Prompts found at AUL or TpT to create some imaginative seasonal stories!

Ready to go ahead and go all out to set an October classroom mood? Go ahead and ditch traditional seating--bring in blankets, rugs, and large towels for students to lounge on while they create a Halloween atmosphere and create and read Halloween themed stories.

Fog machines and light projected scenes are easy set-ups and can change ordinary classrooms into an extraordinary October holiday settings. These are in high demand and can be luxury classroom items, so budget early for those.

Setting the mood for October helps students enjoy learning during the holiday season!

Happy October!
