FREE Dental Activites for National Dentist's Day on March 6

You might not think about National Dentist Day on March 6 as a time of celebration, but every day is a good day to celebrate taking care of your mouth and teeth.

A great way to encourage dental hygiene and visits is by inviting your local dentist into your classroom to celebrate the holiday and to talk about a profession in dentistry. 

For younger students, begin with an introduction by Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood about a first trip to the dentist:

Discuss the step-by-step process for visiting the dentist for the first time:

Collaborate with local dentistry businesses to provide free toothbrushes, toothpaste, etc. for students. Complete the fun unit with FREE dental activities from Educator Helper:

September is National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month

"Community-led efforts to improve access to healthy food have been transformational"--you ARE making a difference! 

The State of Childhood Obesity released its 2024 Annual Report at https://stateofchildhoodobesity.org/2024-annual-report/, and it shows that some community-led programs across the U.S. are leading to healthier lifestyles.

Did you know according to the CDC:

• Approximately 1 in 5 U.S. children and adolescents have obesity.
• Obesity affects some groups more than others, including adolescents, Hispanic and non-Hispanic Black children, and children in families with lower incomes. (https://www.cdc.gov/obesity/childhood-obesity-facts/childhood-obesity-facts.html)
