Writing an Annotated Bibliography Step-by-Step Guide

While many students will avoid having to ever write annotated bibliographies, there are teachers who require them for research projects. Also, there are some courses, such as history, where annotated bibliographies are used extensively.

One of my students said, "We wrote one in ninth grade, but it was just an MLA citation with a one or two sentence summary." That's what some might call an abbreviated attempt at an annotated bibliography, but it would earn a grade of zero in an AP or college class.

Let's listen to an Educreation lecture on annotated bibliographies

If needed, copy and paste the link into your browser address bar: https://www.educreations.com/lesson/view/annotated-bibliographies/43403633/

Now, you are ready to help students write their annotated bibliographies. First, have students preview the lecture or use the presentation slides to introduce annotated bibliographies:

Make writing an annotated bibliography as easy as possible for students!

Happy writing!
